(Greater Sudbury, ON) With the regular season beginning to wrap up over the next couple of weeks, both the Junior and Mens Spartan teams have secured a spot in the post season. Both teams have home playoff games coming up towards the end of the month, with the JV team playing their game on July 20th, and the Spartans playing on the 27th. These games are quarter final games which means the Spartans teams need to win to move on in the playoffs.

The JV Spartans, with their last win against their North Bay rivals, have secured 1st place in the OPFL North Division with a record of 5-2 so far. Not only are they first in their own division, they are also 2nd in the whole league, behind only the Guelph Jr. Gryphons who they have yet to meet in battle.

The Spartans are currently 1st in the NFC West with a record of 5-1 and need another win to secure their spot. They also sit in 2nd place in the NFC with Ottawa, Steel City, and Sarnia right behind them with records of 4-2. With two tough opponents ahead of them in the Ottawa Sooners and GTA All Stars, they will have their work cut out for them to keep hold of their position.

With a number of games left in the NFC, the Spartans opponents are still to be decided as teams may fall or rise in the standings as the final games play out. What is for sure, is that the JV Spartans will be hosting the Orangeville Outlaws in their quarterfinal playoff game on the 20th. This also means there will be another double header on that day between the Spartans and JV Spartans. The JV will Start at 4:00pm and the Spartans will play at 7:00pm. The Spartans’ playoff game will be on Saturday July 27th, at 7:00pm.
