The JV Spartans were on the road facing tough competition in the Woodstock Wolverines over the weekend. In a very close game, where the Spartans were down 13-0 halfway through the second quarter, the Spartans came out on top 33-26. Thanks to the team never giving up, and always in the mindset that the game was still winnable, the Spartans pulled off the big win on the road putting them at 3-2 on the season so far.

The 1st quarter ended with Woodstock up 7-0, then almost halfway through the 2nd the Wolverines scored again, this time missing the extra point. The Wolverines would go on to score again, and like their second touchdown, they missed the extra point to put the score at 19-0. The Spartans quickly followed up these two touchdowns of their own. Thanks to Owen Visentin and Josh Giroux, the score was 19-14 going into the 3rd quarter. Due to great defensive play by both teams, the only scoring in the 3rd was on kicker Cameron Moxam, who put the ball through the up-rights for a field goal to put the Spartans within 2 points of the Wolverines.

The 4th quarter was action packed. The Spartans defence had forced a safety early in the quarter tying the game at 19. Then after some back and forth, the Wolverines scored to put them up 26-19. The Spartans would respond with Blake Ramalho scoring to tie the game back up. After a fumble by Woodstock, the Spartans offence got the ball back late in the 4th quarter. Giroux got on the board again to help to secure the win for the Spartans with a score of 33-26.

Finally, after their long 3 game road trip the JV Spartans are back at home Saturday June 29th when they host the Clarington Knights at the James Jerome Sport Complex at 1:00pm. With a record of 3-2 they are looking for a win to put themselves in a good playoff position.
