(Greater Sudbury, ON) The U16 Sudbury Spartans are set to open their 2023 regular season campaign against the Etobicoke Eagles Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm at James Jerome field.

This game holds significant importance for the U16 team as they aim to continue their success from last season, where they were crowned 2022 U16 Ruckstuhl Cup Champions, going undefeated throughout the regular season to receive provincial champion honors.

“The standard has been set for Sudbury Spartans football moving forward,” said U16 Head Coach, Jordan Desilets. “It is now time to put our hard hats back on, grab our lunch pails and embrace the target because, nobody cares, work harder.”

Last season, the Sudbury Spartans displayed exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination, to secure the championship title. Their victory was celebrated throughout Sudbury, as it marked a historic moment for the team and their dedicated fans. This is the Spartans first provincial championship since the youth program began just 3 years ago.

Tickets are available at the gate for $10. Kids 12 and under get in free.
