COACHES

Reg Bonin

Reg Bonin is a former Sudbury Spartans of 8 seasons between 1995 and 2006. He began coaching in the fall of 2000, spending 2 seasons as an offensive assistant coach for Lo-Ellen. In 2006, he coached at CND before becoming a Head Coach in the JMYFL in 2007. In 2008, Bonin became the Head Coach at Lively District Secondary School where he remains today. He also coached seven seasons with the Sudbury Gladiators at the JV and Varsity levels and in various capacities such as QB coach, Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach.

Dan Yoisten

Dan Yoisten is originally from Greater Sudbury, playing football for CVDCS high school and for the Spartans afterward as a linemen. After moving to Simcoe County for his work career, Dan had the opportunity to coach Park St Secondary and St. Joan of Arc, winning a championship and participating in the Capital Bowl Series. He came back to Sudbury a couple years ago and wanted to get involved in Sudbury football again, and was granted that when he met Jordan. Dan coached the defensive line and linebackers for the Jr. Gladiators last season, and went on to assist Rej with the offensive and defensive lines at Lively this past high school season.

Jordan Desilets

Jordan Desilets has coached alongside Rej for the past two high school seasons, winning back to back senior city championships at Lively high school, coaching the defensive backs and linebackers. He was a member of the Jr. Gladiators coaching staff for the past two seasons, working with the defensive backs, linebackers and coordinating the defense in 2018. His playing career was limited, as his local high school did not offer football until his senior year, however, he was able to gain valuable experience playing summer ball after being exposed to the game.

Sandy Bissett

Sandy Bissett began his playing career at LoEllen Park Secondary School, playing from 2005 to 2010. He played three seasons for the Sudbury Gladiators between 2008 and 2010, winning the gladiator of the year award in 2010. After highschool, Sandy moved on to McMaster University for 2 seasons. He returned to Sudbury to play for the Spartans in 2012 before injury cut his playing career short in 2013. At that time he began to coach, spending some time coaching the offensive lines for Lo-Ellen, the Sudbury JV Gladiators and the Sudbury Spartans.

Brett McKnight

Brett McKnight played his high school football at Lockerby where he helped the Vikings to two city championships. During that time, he also played four seasons for the Sudbury Northerners of the OVFL. He finished his playing career as a Sudbury Spartan, earning a league All-Star award as a receiver. He began his coaching career as offensive Coordinator of the Sudbury JV Gladiators in 2011. Since, he has spent time on the sideline as a defensive coordinator at Lively, as an Offensive Coordinator and head coach of the Lockerby Viking, while also coaching in various capacities with the Sudbury Gladiators for four additional seasons.
